Calendar of Community Programs
This calendar is merely a proposed, tentative, visionary, and templatized. The arrangement of these event is left to community efforts. If the members of the community want to take up any of these proposed events, they will step up to arrange events out od this list of events.
1- Summer: Jun to Aug (12 Weekends)
One day picnic trips to Burn Coat, Bear River Village, Victoria Park, Peggie’s Cove, Indian Point, Dollar Lake, Upper Clements Park, and Sherbrook Village
Berry (Strawberry and Blue Berry) Picking
Sandcastle competition at Clam Harbour Beach
One- or two-nights trips to Cape Bretton or PEI
Workshop on woodwork, car maintenance, painting, managing financing etc. for community
Outdoor Soccer tournaments for Dads, Youth (16 to 28) and kids (under 18)
Outdoor basketball tournaments for Dads, Youth (16 to 28) and kids (under 18)
Indoor Soccer Tournament for sisters: (moms), and kids (under 10)
Fundraising campaign for adding a feature, facility, or item to Al-Rasoul facility
2- Fall: Sep to Oct (8 Weekends)
Walks on trails: there are dozens of trails within one hour
Drive to valley for Fall colors or a night stay at Cape Bretton or Northumberland county for Fall colors
Apple Picking
Trip to a Maze Farm (may be Truro)
Winter: Nov to Mar
Outdoor tennis tournaments for Dads, Youth (16 to 28) and kids (under 18)
Outdoor tennis tournaments (on a separate date) for moms and kids (under 18)
Outdoor basketball tournaments for Dads, Youth (16 to 28) and kids (under 18)
Outdoor basketball tournaments (on a separate date) for moms and kids (under 18)
Workshops on Fall care of lawns, writing, resume building, career finding, starting a new business
Fundraising campaign for adding a feature, facility, or item to Al-Rasoul facility
3- Winter: Nov to Mar (22 Weekends)
We are so many cultures under one roof. Exchange of culinary skills from one culture to the other within men and women groups a couple of time each in the longer time of winter at the Al-Rasoul
Badminton tournaments for different age groups of brothers and sisters.
Swimming competitions/activity for brothers and kids
Skii trips, group skating at oval, sledge/board sliding for kids at the Citadel Hill
Snowman making completions
Computer game competition among all ages as one group
Book reading and discussion club in Winter and may be throughout the year
Workshops on managing finances and taxation, first aid/medical aid, gardening, starting a political career
Fundraising campaign for adding a feature, facility, or item to Al-Rasoul facility
4- Spring: Apr to May (8-9 Weekends)
Walks on Nova Scotian tails
Table Tennis tournaments for various age group of brother and sisters
Workshops on vegetable plantation, BBQ skills, dental hygiene, weight/wellness management
Fundraising campaign for adding a feature, facility, or item to Al-Rasoul facility
Note: Every month (let us say, the first Thursday of a month), there should be a potluck instead of Al-Rasoul providing food.
